Last month our first UK Defence Surgical Research Conference took place at the Tower of London, from the 7th to 8th of July. This was run in collaboration with Academic Department of Military Surgery and Trauma (ADMST) and the Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl). With the theme of ‘Surgery – Science – Skills’, the conference brought together almost 200 delegates from surgical delivery teams and the wider defence research community. A varied programme highlighted the latest innovations and challenge areas in surgical healthcare delivery as well as cutting-edge defence science and technology from a broad array of research disciplines. These were interwoven with sessions on occupational psychology, collaboration and leadership, including support for early career researchers. The conference concluded with a ‘families and partners’ programme with afternoon tea, STEM displays and a ‘knight school’ for children!
We would like to thank our conference sponsors for their generous support: Edare, Galen, BMJ Military Health, VRiMS, Explorer Coffees, Rods & Cones, and Inovus Medical. Please see the conference session recording below which shows Dr Jesse Norris, Edare’s Senior Product Manager, talking about their innovation in boothless audiometry.
